Some first thoughts

So, I will start with the details. It was a long flight but okay, 14 hours. Interveiw in Toronto seemed just a formality, nothing to worry about. We got to ride bus, subway, and street car and dine in a little cafe in the center of downtown Toronto. I loved it! I think I could like that city life, but maybe after a year in Korea I will be craving the country life instead. I felt so confident finding my way around the city, just reading maps and signs and always saying "never eat soggy weiners" in my head. It made me think that I can find my way in foreign countries like Korea, and maybe Europe someday.

We arrived in Korea at 2:30. Mr. You picked us up in his van, drove an hour to our rental rooms, (we will stay there a week of 'transition time' until the other teachers leave), then we will move into our real apartment. Today Nash and I walked around to find some breakfast and now out again to find this internet cafe. It is only around a 1.00 for an hour, nice! Then the rest of the week is classroom observation and rest. Haven't seen the school yet.

I feel this intense 'weirdness' when I look outside. I don't know how else to describe it. I have only seen these sights in movies. I guess Jamaica had some similarities in the signage and crazy business, but that was in English and their buildings were maybe half as tall as these, and that is being generous.
